Sophie Penkethman-Young is an artist and digital producer living on unceded Gadigal Land. Sophie is interested in how ideas and experiences translate digitally, how humanness could be described and how could it be uploaded to the cloud? She gained a Bachelor of Visual Arts from the Australian National University and completed a Master of Art Curating at the University of Sydney focusing on digital museum culture and internet-based practice in 2020. 

Sophie has had solo exhibitions at Sydney Seventh Gallery (2019) Melbourne and Verge Gallery (2021) Sydney and Mais Wright (2025) Sydney. In 2022 Sophie created and performed a live streamed performance lecture ‘In Progress: The Wait of Expectation’ as part of Liveworks. 

Sophie has worked at Sydney Opera House, Creative Australia, Carriageworks and Firstdraft. Sophie was on the board of Runway Journal and has worked with or consulted for Sydney College of the Arts, Art Month, Sydney Contemporary, Ensemble Apex, FBi Radio + more.
